“In an article entitled “Bayside Changes: Hey Where Did That Office Go?”, reporter Hira Afridi misstated that  there was a connection between Bayside receiving Federal money and the new sign in front of the building. In reality, NO budget funds were spent in purchase or construction of the new sign—it was entirely paid for by student donations.

Message from the Principal

Bayside=College

On February 24, 2009, President Obama included the following in his remarks to Congress:
"... every American will need to get more than a high school diploma. And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It's not just quitting on yourself, it's quitting on your country -- and this country needs and values the talents of every American...we will provide the support necessary for all young Americans to complete college..."

It took a while, but the national government has finally caught up to Bayside High School!

Bayside=College, an initiative begun last Fall, centers on the core belief that it is the mission of this school to ensure that all of our graduates enroll in college, prepared to persist and succeed in achieving their degrees. To this end, our clubs, teams, and other student activities are now aligned with this mission; our curriculum is undergoing constant review to support each student's postsecondary success; our teachers and administrators are engaged in continuous efforts to motivate and enthuse every student to plan for college and beyond; our counselors and support staff are providing comprehensive, hands-on assistance as students explore the exciting world of college and careers.

It is my sincere hope that visitors to this site will become as enthusiastic about Bayside=College as our school community has. On behalf of the administration, teachers, counselors, and support staff of Bayside High School, I welcome you and thank you for visiting our virtual home.

Principal
