Parents and guardians, functioning in a collaborative partnership with the school, are a key element in the successful achievement of the goals set forth for all students.
Parents Can Sign up for School Alerts
It's easier than ever to stay updated about events affecting your child's school. If school opens late or dismisses early, or if it relocates or closes temporarily because of bad weather or other unexpected events, you can now receive an update in real-time via phone, text message, or e-mail. Families can sign up to receive school updates for up to five specific zip codes through Notify NYC, the City's public notification system.
To sign up for the free service, go to the NYC official website or call 311.
Join Parents Against Vaping e-cigarettes (PAVe) this Thursday 4/16 for one of two webinars to learn about the dangers of e-cigarettes: 1. For Parents Only: 1:30-2:30pm EST. This session is presented by parents from our national team, with a 40-minute presentation followed by Q&A. 2. For Teens only: 5-6pm EST. Youth ages 11-18 will watch and listen to a short presentation on youth vaping created by NYU Langone, presented by our physician partners from Pediatrics at Columbia University, followed by Q&A. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, now more than ever it is critical to understand the added risks to lung health from vaping. In February, PAVe partnered with NYU Langone’s Prevention and Education Partnership (PEP) to bring innovative programming for parents together with their middle- and high-school aged kids. We are proud to adapt PEP’s adolescent programming to reach youth across the country via webinar with exciting new partners at Columbia and Mt. Sinai.
