Well-known reference works:
When citing very well known reference books such as encyclopedias and dictionaries, you can leave the publishing information out. If the book is arranged in alphabetical order and has volume numbers, the volume numbers can also be left out. If you are not sure whether a book is well known, it is better to include everything.
